Seventeen cavers joined the fifth Shepton Mallet Caving Club expedition to the Doi Phuka National Park in Nan from 15th to 24th February. In these 10 days 3.6 km of cave was surveyed.
The first week was based in Ban Mani Phruk and Ban Pang Kae in the northern area of the park. In addition to exploring and surveying the caves listed below, surface reconnaissance work was conducted.
Tham Rai Phin The exploration and survey, started in 2014, was completed. Length 487m Depth 178m
Tham Bpaet Sip The exploration and survey, started in 2014, was completed. Length 918m Depth 118m
Tham Pha Thong The cave was fully explored and surveyed. Length 144m Depth 84m
Cave NA0152/NA0153 The cave was fully explored and surveyed. Length 220m Depth 81m
Tham Men Dip The cave was fully explored and surveyed. Length 142m Depth 44m
The last few days were spent in Pua, exploring several caves in the Nam Pua valley, near Ban Nam Pua Phatthana.
Tham Maa/Tham Yang The exploration and survey, started in 2015, was completed. This is Thailand's longest (and only known) cave in conglomerate. Length 1,990m Depth 114m
Tham Nam Ook Ru The cave was fully explored and surveyed. Length 91m Depth 2m
Tham Yok Wiman The exploration and survey, started in 2013, was completed. Length 234m Depth 26m
